Space & Place

£309,170 Space & Place award for Éire Óg An Charraig Mhór Hurling and Camogie Club.

Éire Óg An Charraig Mhór Hurling and Camogie Club is celebrating a funding windfall following a grant of almost £309,170 from the Big Lottery funded Space & Place programme. The group is one of thirteen organisations across Northern Ireland receiving a share from a funding pot of £4.4 million, the largest amount awarded to date by Space & Place in any round.

The club plans to use the funding to create an outdoor gym and walking track on the site of Pairc Éire Óg, Termon Rd, Carrickmore. The project will also include a new sensory community garden with seating as well as a Men’s Shed and a new 70 metre four-lane running track which will be completed to athletics standard. A semi covered area for indoor games and events such as farmers’ markets and fundraisers will ensure that the new facility maximises the space available for local people to participate in a wide range of activities.
